Meet the Endurance Capital Committee
The ECC meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm at Auburn City Hall (Room 10), 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603. If there is a change it will be found on the Endurance Capital Calendar.
The Endurance Capital Committee
The City of Auburn’s Endurance Capital Committee was founded as an advisory committee to determine ways to use the City’s new tagline “Auburn, Endurance Capital of the World®” after it was approved by the City Council in May of 2003. In November, 2004, the City gave this committee the status of an official City of Auburn Committee.
Auburn’s backyard includes the 40,000+ acre Auburn State Recreation Area and easy access to the Sierra Nevada has made Auburn a destination for endurance athletes of all levels and interests. Many come to compete in historic, internationally famous endurance competitions, notably the Tevis Cup 100-Mile Endurance Equestrian Ride (est. 1955) and the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run (est. 1976). These events, the many others that followed, and a setting that encourages all levels of endurance activities, give proof positive to the City of Auburn’s status as “The Endurance Capital of the World®”.
