The 2024 Tevis Cup (68th Annual!) 100-Miles-One-Day Endurance Equestrian Ride, started on July 20, 2024 at 5:15am, as the horse and rider teams left the Robie Equestrian Park outside of Truckee, CA for their epic journey to Auburn. Among them, both past Tevis top 10 past finishers, were a Mother and Daughter pair, Jeannette (Mom) and Reyna (Daughter), Mero from Mariposa CA. This was their year! as the duo finished 1-2. Jeanette and her chestnut Arabian mare Lena crossed the finish line first (17:05), was OK’ed at the final Vet Check, and trotted down for their victory ride to the banner at McCann Stadium in the Gold Country Fairgrounds. Reyna and her dappled gray Arabian mare, Clippie, crossed the finish line minutes behind her. The truly historic nature of this year’s top two finishers was determined the next day at the judging for the event’s best conditioned horse out the the top 10 finishers for the Haggin Cup Award. Reya’s horse Clippie won the Haggin Cup for the best conditioned horse making it a mother-daughter pair and their horses taking home these two prestigious trophies the same year. Congratulations Jeannette & Lena, Reyna & Clippie!
