Auburn Aid Station Fun

The votes have been tallied from the Sacramento Running Association’s annual online survey filled out by runners from around the entire Sacramento region for the “2019 Best of…” categories. The winner of the competitive “Best Runners’ Hangout” category is downtown Auburn’s Auburn Aid Station! Co-owner Paulo Medina will be accepting the award at the SRA’s annual Hall of Fame Banquet this coming Saturday, February 15.

Elite marathon runner Jane Kibii of Auburn has received the Runner of the Year award. Tom Johnson (Loomis) is a Hall of Fame inductee for his accomplishments at the Western States Endurance Run. Other locals receiving awards include Brad Poore, Meghan Laws, Dan Barger and Tom Harper. Congratulations!

Join the fun by participating with the Endurance Capital Committee’s Float entry at the 2024 Festival of Lights Parade on December 7!

Meet us at the top of Lincoln Way in the parking lot between the First Foundation Bank and the Western States Endurance Run Warehouse. (Wendell Robie’s old stomping ground.)

We need many hands from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 pm on Saturday. Take a break, eat and get ready for the parade that forms at 5:00 pm and Starts at 5:30 pm.

We will sprawl out quite a bit and so the Parade Managers have given us Harrison Avenue where we will get organized. I’m not sure what our entry number is but will find out next week.

Wear lights and fun hats, costumes or whatever you would like. Please spread the word to your respective groups too.

TEVIS RIDE DATE CHANGE





The Western States Trail Foundation Executive Committee, the Tevis Ride Director, along with other key Ride personnel have had discussions over the past week to evaluate the current snow and weather impacts to the 2019 Tevis Cup Ride. Based on the snowfall water content, and comparing current conditions and forecasts to past historical records, the decision was made to postpone the 2019 ride date from July 20 to August 17, 2019. We expect changing to this later date will allow us to use our traditional trail and make the necessary improvements and annual seasonal cleanup efforts before the ride. We appreciate the support and understanding of our riders, volunteers, sponsors, and the Tevis community as we move forward with this new date.
